Mattapoisett — Each month Old Rochester Regional High School Principal Mike Devoll shares what's going on "Behind the Bulldog."

Greetings! As we approach the end of another school year, the time to celebrate our senior class is upon us.

This month I wanted to highlight a current senior who, through a willingness to engage in all that we have to offer, has positioned herself for success after high school.

Colleen Garcia is a product of the ORR school district, having gone through Sippican School and the ORR Junior High School. We advise our freshman that input equals output. What you put into your education is what you will get out of it. There is no better representation of that at ORR than Colleen.

Colleen has taken rigorous classes at ORRHS since freshman year, culminating in the completion of seven Advanced Placement courses as an junior and senior.

And yet at Old Rochester, we strive for a well-rounded experience even beyond the classroom. Colleen played two sports every year for four years. She participated in the Drama Club, Chorus, American Field Service (AFS), and Debate Team. She’s also caddied at Kittansett and worked at Kool Kone for two years.

Colleen has clearly taken advantage of all that this school and community offers. As a freshman, a love of "Grey’s Anatomy" pointed her towards a career in medicine - until she realized she was afraid of blood!

Through her experiences at ORRHS, Colleen now sees herself entering the field of international politics and economics. She was able to study in Spain as part of our AFS program. Colleen will attend Georgetown University in the fall and will enter the School of Foreign Service.

This month’s profile Behind the Bulldog showcases the opportunities available for success beyond the bulldog!
