Fashion design, illustration for tweens at Marion Art Center
Marion — The Marion Art Center will offer an eight-week fashion design and illustration course for tweens, ages 9-12, April 4 to May 30, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
This offering will cover the basics of fashion illustration, including drawing the fashion figure and rendering fabrics with colored pencil and marker. Instructor Catherine Carter will lead kids in creating a series of design projects inspired by a range of sources from fashion history, ethnic costume and fine art.
Carter has taught drawing, painting and design at colleges and museums for 15 years. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the UMass Dartmouth and currently works at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford. Her artwork may be viewed at her website, CatherineCarterPainting.com.
The cost is $180 for MAC members and $195 for non-members. Supplies are not included. A minimum of five students are required for this class. Registration is due by March 28.
