The Gateway Gladiator squirts and bantams continued their undefeated seasons over the weekend.

The squirts defeated Norwood 4-0 on Sunday. The team had a slow start but was able to hold off Norwood until the players found their groove. The offense was led by three goals and one assist from Tommy Clavell. Brayden Hathon had three assists, Brayden Cannon scored a goal, Mike Brown had an assist and Liz Kilpatrick added two assists to round out the offense. Nate Wilson stopped all 24 shots he faced in net for a shutout.

The Gladiator bantams took the ice on Saturday in pink jerseys to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team defeated Coastal Stars 6-1. The Stars scored first, halfway into the first period. The Gladiators had some chances but struggled to get one past the Stars goalie. Five minutes into the second period that changed when Matt Cadieux beat a defenseman and snuck one under the goalies arm to score. Tyler Lovendale would break the 1-1 tie 16 seconds later, and then score his second goal of the game toward the end of the period. Just before the period ended, Will Goldman put the Gladiators’ third goal in. Things slowed down in the third period until late in the period when Quirino doCanto and Lovendale each scored a shorthanded goal. The Gladiators will continue to play in the pink jerseys for the rest of the month.
