League of Women Voters to hold Marion 'candidates' night'
Marion — The League of Women Voters will host “Candidates’ Night,” a nonpartisan forum for candidates running for election to Marion boards and committees, on Wednesday, May 9, in the Music Hall.
The event begins at 7 p.m.
The format of the evening offers each candidate the opportunity to speak about his/her qualifications, experience, and understanding of their board’s issues and responsibilities. In turn, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of those running for the contested seats.
In this election, there are two candidates vying for one seat on the Board of Selectmen – Jody Dickerson and Ted North – and there are three candidates competing for two seats on the Planning Board – John Sweeney, Steve Gonsalves and Steve Kokkins.
The candidates’ portion of the program will be followed by a discussion of items in the Warrant for the upcoming Town Meeting on May 21.
The Town Administrator, Paul Dawson, and Finance Committee member, Karen Kevelson, will lead the discussion with opportunity for questions from the audience.
