Marion Fireworks Committee begins 'Twenty for Many' campaign
Marion — The Marion Fireworks Committee hopes to raise $40,000 for the 2017 Independence Day fireworks and has set up a GoFundMe page to collect donations.
With the Twenty for Many campaign, the committee is asking for $20 from the many people who have enjoyed the fireworks.
Last year's fireworks were canceled because the committee received only $13,000 in donations. Those funds are still in the bank, but the additional $40,000 is needed by May 1 to see lights over Silver Shell Beach again this Fourth of July.
