As of April 27, Mattapoisett's mandatory water use restriction has been lifted.

Outside lawn and plant irrigation systems and occasional use of outside water is now permitted, according to Mattapoisett's Sewer and Water Commissioners. The Commissioners ask that town residents continue to use water sources responsibly.

The ban was enacted in September of 2016, due to below-normal precipitation during the summer of 2016. However, according to Mattapoisett's Sewer and Water Commissioners, recent "above-normal" rain levels have replenished groundwater aquifers and surface water resources.
