ORR/Fairhaven hockey advances to sectional finals
Mattapoisett — The Bulldogs gave fans a lot to cheer about during Wednesday night's 6-3 over Dartmouth in the Division 3 South sectional semi-final game in Bourne.
The team shined on the penalty kill, executed on the power play and never once hesitated to block a shot.
After the first period the Bulldogs were up 2-1, but Dartmouth came back to tie it in 2-2 in the second.
However, the Bulldogs would soon regained a lead they would not relinquish. The team scored three more goals before the end of the second period, and Dartmouth added one more, to end the second period up 5-3.
The Bulldogs scored one more in the third period to put the exclamation point on the win that takes them to the section finals.
"I'm ecstatic about the win," Bulldogs head coach Eric Labonte said.
However, despite his excitement to reach the section championship game, Labonte acknowledged that the game the Bulldogs played on Wednesday night was not perfect.
"We ran around a lot in our zone today," he said.
He also added that the team played better as the game went on, and that now it was time to get ready for the championship game.
"At this point, rest is the best for us," Labonte said. "Practice is redundant."
The Bulldogs play Rockland on Sunday at 3:15 at Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne.
