Residents hit blood donation milestones

This week Southcoast Blood Bank announced several milestones for tri-town residents who have donated significant amounts of life-saving blood.

Scott Huckabee, of Mattapoisett, has donated four gallons of blood as of August 7. James Stellano, also of Mattapoisett, has given eight gallons of blood through the blood bank.

Marion resident David St. Aubin recently hit the 11-gallon mark. And Robert Kirkland, of Mattapoisett, has reached 18 gallons.

The Southcoast Hospitals use approximately 1,300 pints of blood each month and hold numerous blood banks in the area with the Southcoast Blood Donor Van and at local businesses. The schedule can be found online at www.southcoast.org/van or by calling 508-961-5320.

Individuals can also donate at the Southcoast Blood Bank, located at St. Luke’s Hospital, 101 Page St., New Bedford, off the main lobby. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 to 2:30 p.m. The Southcoast Blood Bank will be closed on August 10.
