Taber Library to host suminagashi workshop
Marion — Elizabeth Taber Library is hosting a suminagashi marbling workshop on March 16 at 3 p.m. This workshop is for teenagers 13 and up.
Suminagashi, which means floating ink on water, is the ancient Japanese art of paper marbling. The workshop will teach participants the technique of mixing and applying ink to the surface of the water, as well as manipulating the ink to form patterns. Then, participants will capture the patterns on Japanese rice paper to create a series of marbled papers. Finished pieces can be framed or be used for things such as stationary, journals and book marks.
