Holy Week schedule announced

Father Jude Thaddeus Osunkwo, pastor of St. Isidore Parish, has announced the schedule of the Holy Week and Easter Sunday Masses.  

St. Isidore Parish is made up of three worship sites: Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Lakeville; Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro; and St. Rose of Lima, Rochester.  

Holy Week begins with the celebration of the Palm Sunday Masses, March 23 and 24.  The parish will hold four Masses: the first at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 at Sacred Heart Church, and three Sunday Masses on March 24: St. Rose of Lima at 9 a.m., Sts. Martha and Mary at 9:30 a.m. and Sacred Heart at 11 a.m.

This year the three services of the Holy Week Triduum, March 28-30, will be held at Sacred Heart Church. Father Jude Thaddeus will be the celebrant at the liturgies assisted by Deacon George Gabriel and Deacon Alan Amaral.

On Holy Thursday, March 28, the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will begin at 7 p.m. 

During this Mass, following the Liturgy of the Word, the Rite of the Washing of Feet (Mandatum) will take place.  Several parishioners will have their feet washed by the celebrant, to symbolize Jesus washing the feet of his 12 disciples. .  

Music will be under the direction of Zeke Lewis with Jimmy Dolan as accompanist.  At the end of the Mass those present will have the opportunity to remain until 10 p.m. to spend time in prayer.

On Good Friday, March 29, at 3 p.m., the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion will take place. This service has three parts: Liturgy of the Word, Adoration of the Holy Cross, and Holy Communion.  

The Easter Vigil, considered the greatest and most noble of all rites in the Roman Catholic Church, begins at 7 p.m. on Holy Saturday, March 30.  

On Easter Sunday, March 31, there will be three Masses celebrated, one at each worship site. At 9 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima, Rochester.  Jack Roussell, St. Rose music coordinator, will lead the music.  

At 9:30 a.m., there will be Mass at Sts. Martha and Mary, Lakeville, and the adult choir members and children’s choir members will sing, also accompanied by flute and cello. The final Mass will take place at Sacred Heart, Middleboro, at 11 a.m.
