MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Republican Party will be joined by guest speaker Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald Jr. at its next monthly meeting.

The meeting —at which attendees can discuss local initiative, support candidates and share ideas with neighbors — will be Thursday, March 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 57 Fairhaven Road. The guest speaker will begin at 7 p.m.

McDonald is the 30th High Sheriff of Plymouth County, serving as “leader of perhaps the oldest law enforcement agency in America,” according to a Mattapoisett Republican Party press release.

“The Plymouth County Sheriff office strives to be an integral part of public safety systems providing vital communications services to our emergency medical systems, local fire, and police departments,” a press release said. “In the name of public safety, please join us to learn about and discuss new ideas to make a difference for all of us.”
