Rochester Town Administrator search committee finalized

May 9, 2024

ROCHESTER — With the upcoming resignation of Rochester Town Administrator Glenn Cannon, the Rochester Select Board assembled a search committee to find his replacement.

The search committee will be made up of Select Board member Brad Morse, former Rochester Town Clerk Paul Dawson, Finance Director and Interim Town Administrator Suzanne Szyndlar, Finance Committee member Kris Stoltenberg and Rochester resident David Eckert.

Glenn Cannon’s last day as town administrator will be Monday, May 13. Cannon announced on April 29 that he has accepted a position as Carver Town Administrator.

“It’s been a great run here,” Cannon said on April 29. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Felt like I learned a lot. Lot of great staff here. I appreciated working with the board.”

Cannon has been Rochester’s town administrator since March 2022.

At a Monday, May 6 Select Board meeting, Personnel Board member Kristine Nash requested a letter in writing from Town Counsel confirming that a member of the Personnel Board was ineligible for the search committee.

On Thursday, the Select Board presented the letter. “The members of the personnel board can not be appointed to any other board,” read Morse from the letter.

According to Morse, nobody else submitted a letter of interest in being on the search committee.
