BUZZARDS BAY - Two Mattapoisett residents were named April 2 to the Regimental Leadership and the Cadet Academic Leadership Team at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Marina Stephens and Aiden Harrington were both named to the Regimental Leadership roster. Their titles are listed as Regimental Training & Retention Officer and Regimental Community Service Officer, respectively.

Harrington was also named to the Marine Science, Safety & Environmental Protection roster of the 2024-2025 Cadet Academic Leadership Team.

The selection process for the regimental and academic leadership roles was highly competitive, according to a Massachusetts Maritime Academy press release. It consisted of an application, position-specific assignments, a physical fitness assessment, a public speaking assessment and an interview with a selection committee.

“The entire [Massachusetts Maritime Academy] community applauds these fine young women and men who have achieved leadership roles while at the academy and who are certain to be future leaders in the maritime industries,” said Rear Admiral Francis X. McDonald, USMS, president of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
