Mattapoisett — Author Holly FitzGerald will be speaking at the Mattapoisett Library on Wednesday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. Fitzgerald, of South Dartmouth, recently wrote "Ruthless River: A Story of Love and Survival on the Amazon's Relentless Madre de Dios."

The memoir recounts Fitzgerald's attempts to return to civilization after the plane she and her husband boarded crashed in the wilds of Peru. The couple took the advice of a nearby penal colony and built a raft to sail down the Madre De Dios River, hoping to find a way home.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

The library is located at 7 Barstow Street and is handicapped accessible.
