Game 32 Preview: Gatemen take on Commodores for second time in four days

WAREHAM – The Wareham Gatemen (18-11-1) are back in action tonight as they take on the Falmouth Commodores (15-14-1) tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Spillane Field.

Both teams enter play today coming off an off day yesterday. Every team in the league was did not play games yesterday, but rather ventured on up to Boston, Mass. for a very special day. All teams in the Cape Cod Baseball League participated in a pro style workout up at Fenway Park in front of a plethora of MLB scouts (recap story soon to follow).

Today, it’s back to official business for the Gatemen as they look to win their second game in a row. Last time out, Wareham had an incredible come from behind walk-off win at the hands of the Harwich Mariners 7-6 on Sunday night.

Wareham trailed 6-2 entering the ninth but scored four runs in the inning to tie the gamer and send it to extra. Luke Roskam had the clutch hit for Wareham when he roped a three-run double to advance the score from 6-3 to 6-6. In the tenth, the Gatemen won it when Isaac Collins trotted home from third on a wild pitch giving Wareham their fourth walk-off on the season and their second against Harwich. As for Falmouth, they come into today’s game winners of two straight with their latest victory coming against the Cotuit Kettleers. Falmouth beat Cotuit 8-1 on Sunday night. Austin Langworthy and Kyle Stowers each hit homers for the Kettleers while Adam Laskey pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight in a winning effort.

Today’s game between these two teams is the second in just four days. On Saturday night, the commodores got the best of Wareham when they blanked the Gatemen 3-0. A trio of pitchers, Tyler Dyson, Mitchell Miller, and Nick Mikolajchak, allowed just three hits, keeping the Gatemen hitters guessing all night. On the offensive side, Langworthy hit two homers to provide the commodores with all three of their runs.
