High school teacher awarded military's 'Meritorious Service Medal'

Major Micah Kidney, an Old Rochester Regional High School math teacher, has just been awarded the military's Meritorious Service medal.

Mattapoisett — Old Rochester Regional High School's math teacher, Major Micah Kidney, has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

The Meritorious Service Medal is awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for exceptionally meritorious service. Kidney received the medal for his service as commander of the Mountain Brigade Combat Team.

Kidney has been enlisted in the United States Army since 2003. He served a tour of duty in Eastern Afghanistan from 2009-2010. He has been a math teacher at Old Rochester Regional High School for the past six years.
