Marion hires new part-time Town Planner

Marion — Members of the Marion Planning Board have announced the hiring of a new part-time Town Planner, Gilberto "Gil" Hilario. Hilario will begin in Marion on July 24.

Hilario will bring a wealth of experience and skills to Marion’s planning activities, including the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map various land uses, transportation design, grant applications, “Smart Growth” concepts, zoning, and Master Plan implementation.

He earned a master of science in city planning from Boston University and a bachelor of arts in public administration from the University of Rhode Island with courses taken at Brown and Tufts University. Hilario worked for several years in the planning offices for the city of East Providence and the National Park Service.

He will hold regular office hours in the Town House and attend relevant meetings of various town boards and committees.
