Marion man charged with attempted murder remains jailed after dangerousness hearing

Joseph Singleton, 35, of Marion, is being held without bail after a dangerousness hearing took place on Sept. 22.

A Marion man charged with attempted murder is being held without bail following a dangerousness hearing held Sept. 22 in Wareham District Court.

The defendant, Joseph Singleton, 35, a longtime security guard at Tobey Hospital and former Wareham Animal Control officer, allegedly shot at a woman and 5-year-old child from his car following a domestic dispute on Sept. 18 in Marion.

Following the incident, Singleton led police on a brief chase down Route 6 before crashing into trees while entering a I-195 on-ramp. Police reported finding two bullet holes in the trunk of the woman’s car after the incident. Both woman and child were uninjured.

Due to the violent nature of the allegations, the prosecution requested the dangerousness hearing, which is used to determine whether or not a defendant poses a “substantial risk” of committing a felony involving the use of force.

As a result of the hearing, Singleton will remain in jail. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20 in Wareham District Court.

In addition to attempted murder, Singleton was charged with threat to commit a crime, discharging a firearm near a highway, resisting arrest as well as other assault, firearm and motor vehicle charges.

Good place for him.  I wouldn't expect bail in a case like this.  He's a dangerous threat. He missed the first time.  He could practice and go back to take another shot while out on bail. Bail should be out of the question.

Now, if it was his third time in a year getting caught with heroin, crack, meth, oxy, a ton of cash, and a boatload of sneakers, he and his girlfriend would be home sweet home the next day.

Attempting to kill someone = BAD.

Killing a few hundred with tainted drugs = More money for law enforcement, hospitals, doctors, lawyers, government drug clinics.. Get out of jail free card.
