Marion man critically injured by falling tree branch

Marion — A man in Marion was medflighted after he was critically injured by a falling tree limb on April 30.

The accident occurred around 11:54 a.m. on North Drive, where the man, 64, was attempting to cut down a large pine tree, according to Marion Police Chief John Garcia.

Marion Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found the man, whose identity is not being released at this time, unconscious but breathing, and suffering from "traumatic" injuries.

First responders requested a Med Flight, which landed on the Little Marion Golf Course. The victim was flown to Rhode Island Hospital. His current condition is unavailable.

The accident is being investigated by the Marion Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detective Division and the Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

No further information is available at this time.
