Candidates Michelle Ouellette-Smith,  W. Dale Jones (both above) and John Waterman have stepped into Marion's selectman race.

Marion — New candidates have entered Marion's selectman race, seeking both the three-year term to be vacated by longtime Selectman Jody Dickerson, and the one-year slot that Steve Gonsalves recently resigned.

Resident Randy Parker pulled nomination papers for the three-year seat earlier, and until recently was the only candidate for the post. Now he is joined by Michelle Ouellette-Smith, a full-time teacher at Acushnet Elementary School. Ouellette-Smith is a member of Marion's Zoning Board of Appeals, and belongs to the Sippican School Committee, the ORR School Committee and the Southeastern Massachusetts Education Collaborative.

Two residents have pulled nomination papers for the one-year term: John Waterman, a former financial analyst, and former Marion Emergency Management Director W. Dale Jones.
