Rochester blaze demolishes barn

Rochester — A barn in Rochester was demolished by fire on Wednesday morning.

According to a press release, emergency services were called to the fire, on Bates Road, around 10:30 a.m. The firefighters on scene found a 40x60 metal sheet barn fully immersed. It was not safe to enter the barn, which collapsed as firefighters sprayed the outside of the building.

The fire was brought under control within an hour, and the animals were safely evacuated. Mutual aid was received from Acushnet, Marion, Mattapoisett and Middleboro.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
