Marion — Armed with lawn chairs and blankets, Marion residents came out to enjoy a night of all things British on August 4.

The Marion Concert Band entertained the crowd with a British Isles program, playing music by classical British composers like Gustav Holst and Kenneth Alford, as well as even some hits from The Beatles.

The grass was packed with people sitting in their chairs, some even enjoying an ice cream. The cool weather meant that it was the perfect night to sit and enjoy the band with family, friends, and even some dogs.

Some concert goers brought their antique cars to display for the public. The Cape Cod  British Car Club collaborated with the summer concert series to display an array of classic cars for the community to view.

Dick Langenhoff of Mattapoisett came to the concert to show off his 1958 Triumph TR3 Roadster - one of only 58,000 ever made.

“I'm not a member of the Cape Cod British Car Club,” Langenhoff said. “But I brought it to show.”

Many people in the crowd went to admire Langenhoff’s car in between the sounds of the brass instruments playing the classical British sound of William Walton.
