Tri-town officials exploring regionalization possibilities

By Tanner Harding | Feb 20, 2018

The tri-town's town administrators are hoping to team up and regionalize for efficiency – they just haven’t decided what to focus on yet.

Marion Town Administrator Paul Dawson said he had met with administrators Mike Gagne from Mattapoisett and Suzanne Szyndlar of Rochester recently to discuss possible areas of regionalization.

“We talked about a number of options,” Dawson said. “One area of concern we all share is human resources, and how to deal with the many complex issues that continuously arise.”

He added that each town is looking for ways to share information about updating policies, making sure job descriptions match requirements, and keeping policies up to date.

Though no decisions on regionalizing anything have yet been made, Dawson said discussions will continue.

“I just wanted to bring this up before anything happens,” Dawson told the Board of Selectmen. “These are preliminary discussions.”
