MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Tree Committee announced that its application to participate in the national Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program was approved for the 16th year.

The award is given to communities that have a tree committee or board, have a tree ordinance, have a forestry program spending at least $2 per capita on tree planting and care, and have an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Mattapoisett will celebrate Arbor Day with the raising of the Arbor Day flag at Mattapoisett Town Hall Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m.
